“Unveiling the Patramyth” was an art show curated by Bangladeshi model and artist, Nova, on the intricate interplay of Bengali folklore, patriarchy, and the historical demonization of non-conformist women within the Bengal region. Fabliha was the Assistant Producer and host of this event. Nova’s chilling Shakchunni project was supplemented by an enlightening conversation led by 2022 Kirkus Prize winner Tanaïs, a writer and perfumer, whose pioneering concept of Patramyth redefines cultural narratives.

At a book pop-up event organized by Noorishq, Fabliha led a discussion with esteemed Bangladeshi writer, Fariha Róisín on their book, Who Is Wellness For, and discussed what it means to heal, practical advice on self-care and nurturance culture.

Muktadhara Foundation’s New York Bangla Book Fair

On a panel moderated by Suswana Chowdhury, Fabliha spoke on the annual Moktadhara Foundation’s Bangla Book Fair with fellow femme Bangladeshi writers on our journies in the publishing world and the power of storytelling.

Lesbian Herstory Archives partnered with the New York Public Library for Pride Happy Hour event. Fabliha spoke alongside lesbian archivists, writers, and activists on the importance of lesbian narratives.

Queer Reflections: Community Iftar for LGBTQ+ Muslims

As Director of the Queer Reflections project, Fabliha organized and hosted a community dinner for LGBTQ+ identifying Muslims. As community members broke fast together, queer and trans Muslims comedians, artists, poets, and musicians joined Muslim allies in a night full of powerful performances.

Lost Histories of Bangladeshi-Americans with Bangla Student Society at UPENN

Fabliha was invited by the Bangla Student Society to lead an educational workshop teaching students about the lost histories of Bangladeshis’ first arrival to America. Who were the first Bengalis to migrate to America? What were their lives like? In this interactive workshop, Fabliha explored the many facets of our complex history from how Indian Brahmins created casteist and Islamophobic barriers against Bengali Muslims, our allyship with Black communities, shipjumpers, navigating the U.S immigration legal system and more to break down misconceptions and piecing together our scattered stories.

Fabliha was invited by the Feminist Coalition at Bryn Mawr College to lead a zine workshop on the importance and practices of community care.

Fabliha organized a power recital of LGBTQ+ South Asian dancers, poets, singers, and more for the first installation of the Queer Reflections project.

Marigold Seeds Collective x Queer Mango: Eid Bazaar & Open Mic

Marigold Seeds Collective collaborated with Queer Mango to host a Eid Bazaar and Open Mic for LGBTQ+ Muslims in New York City. Inviting queer and trans vendors to sell artwork and food, LGBTQ+ Muslims across the city joined together to celebrate Eid through arts and storytelling.

Arts and Democracy: a Quest for Home- Upside Down Edition Writing Workshop Series

Fabliha co-organized virtual writing workshops with Kensington based writer, Roohi Choudhry with South Asian folks worldwide to create a safe and vulnerable space where we told our stories and redefined what home means to us, upside down edition. At the end of the 2 month long workshop series, we published a zine online with the participants. ⁣⁣
